  1. Halden Prison

Halden Prison (Norwegian: Haldenfengsel) was established in 2010 it is a highly secure prison in Halden, Norway. However, inmates here are actually trained in a way that once they complete their time, they re-enter the society as model citizens. Moreover, inmates and guards enjoy a healthy relationship which is quite uncommon indeed.

Kresty Prison is in Saint Petersburg, Russia meant for Execution of Punishments for detainees of the city of Saint Petersburg. It was originally designed for 1150 detainees and now it has 950 prison cells. This prison also happens to have a well-maintained sauna which is only for the use of the inmates.

  1. Squirrel Cage Jail

This prison was built in 1885 and in 1972 by the US Govt. named it to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a one of its kind jail where the cells revolve around the building which makes jail break a nigh impossible task.

The largest prison in La Paz, Bolivia San Pedro prison or El penal de San Pedro (Saint Peter’s Prison) is famous for having a society within itself having 1500 prisoners including the families and guests of convicted husbands who take this place as their own home.

Justice Center Leoben is a multifaceted court and prison in Leoben in Styria, Austria, which was completed in November 2004, with 205 prisoners and it is fully booked all the time and has so many facilities that it is rare for a prison to ask for a parole.

Those male convicts who are deemed as the most harmful and dangerous and are considered to be put under a full proof secure facility are placed in The United States Penitentiary, Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX) which is run by Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). It is also known as the Alcatraz of Rockies. It is indeed one of the toughest prisons in the world.
